How Brauns Law Handles Your Nursing Home Case

Legal Team WorkThe great thing about the Nursing Home Injury Report is I can take the time to teach you not only about your case, but also how my law firm handles your case.  As you may have already concluded by reading all the articles on this site, I am a big believer in total transparency and educating clients.  Brauns Law specializes in identifying and investigating nursing home injury cases.  Once we have determined there is viable case, we then bring in other law firms to take the lead role in your case.  As I explain in greater detail below, this does not increase the fee in your case because the separate law firms will share the fee amongst themselves.

Our Investigation into Nursing Home Negligence/Abuse

As I talked about in my article on the pre-suit stage of your case, the most important aspect of getting any case started is to obtain and review the nursing home medical records.  I have built Brauns Law around the idea of using the best-of-the-best for each area of your case.  I have identified expert nurse consultants who have real world experience in the nursing home environment.  They have focused their careers on doing nothing but reviewing and reporting on whether there is negligence, billing fraud, and tampering of medical records to name a few.  Their work is impeccable.  The legal nurse consultants (LNC) will perform an in-depth analysis of the records and provide me with a report and consultation on all the issues they have identified in the chart(s).

Bringing in Co-Counsel

Once we have the medical and legal issues identified, I then bring in another lawyer/law firm to take the lead in your case.  Just like the nurse, I know who the best nursing home tial lawyers are in Georgia.  Under the rules and ethics of Georgia, I can associate in counsel to take lead in your case.  They then become the lead attorney who will file the case and take it all the way to trial while I act as the second-in-command as well as monitoring the case to make sure it is being litigated with the utmost skill and attention.  So this probably rasises some questions in your mind.  Let me see if I can address those.  And if you have a question I haven’t answered, please post it as a comment and I will respond. This way we can help everyone understand the process better.

  • Will the extra attorney cost me any more?  No.  Your fee stays the same and therefore your portion of any settlement or verdict does not change.  The attorneys involved in your case will divide up the fee amongst themselves.
  • Why do I need you if I can just go directly to the other attorney who will be taking lead?  There are several responses.  First, you are getting several lawyers (kind of like a checks-and-balances system) for the price of one.  Second, you need to really ask yourself if you are in a position to know which attorneys really are the best at what they do.  This is such a big challenge I took the time to write a separate article on how Brauns Law uses the best nursing home attorneys in their cases.
